Who am I
My name is Tony Higgisnon a 'Mancunian' who was born in 1961 in a great city called Manchester where I have lived and have been raised all my life. I attended if honest school with little interest at all; as for me, looking out of the window wishing I was playing football made more sense than listening to a boring teacher teach. I eventually left school and entered into my first manual job that of a Re-upholsterer which is simply covering furniture with various fabrics.
I left this job after three years and headed towards the graphic industry whereby I was fortunate to be offered an apprenticeship as a Lithographic printer. As printing is more a science than just a manual physical role; my head had to take on a new role that of education in order that I became qualified.
I worked for the same company for seventeen years until God called me full time into the church where I have now been for twenty three years. Though I have not always been the senior pastor the church became the place where I learned the three most important stages that any Christian heading towards the ministry can ever exerience that of...
Discipleship
Mentoring
Fathering
It is these three areas that for me has erroded away any excuse that I might feel I have for not succeeding. People play an amazing part in life and the lady who has played the most significant part in my life other than my mother is my wife Carol. Carol and I were high school sweethearts and have been married for 26 years and have three grown up children Scott, Laura and Ben.
Friends mentors and fathers have significantly played a major role in who I have become. My long trusted steed and friend Phil Clark has had the unfortunate experience of listening to me complain and complement but I am not sure which one I have done most of I guess you will need to ask him?
My mentor Colin Carson was instrumental in teaching me leadership and what a great mentor he was. Then last but by no means least Papa Jonathan David my spiritual father a man who with out his imput and direction would have made the apostolic just a boring class room seminar. Papa took me from the class room of Muar out into the marketplace where touching lives and fulling purpose took on a whole new significance. He impartation into my life has given me not only a dfferent spirit but a whole new and purpose for living whereby now I am blessed to say I am a begotten son with an apostolic assignment. .
The ministry for me like printing has been somewhat of an education and one that I have immensly loved. To think that God 'can and 'does use uneducated men like me in writing speaking and training is 'well' to lofty for me to comprehend. Writing about leadership & worship along with learning to understand the church in the light of the apostolic context excites me not to mention upgrades me spiritually and interlectually.
My interest when expresing life outside of a church context is obvious for anyone who has seen me in Muar; it's football. Whether its playing football with the youth or simply watching the best team in the land and in all the world 'Manchester City; watching my team for me is somewhat a spiritual lesson in how to bare the fruit of the spirt (long suffering that is) but one however that I am hapy to endure not to metion one that gives me immense pleasure not to mention create great rivelry with Phil who's a Man Utd fan .
This is a simple snap shot of who I am but not who I have fully become as we are all more than we have presently become!!
