Medieval Fun Day

On another blazing summer afternoon in Manchester, yes it did rain...

We held our Medieval Fun Day. This was another great opportunity to connect with the community in another action packed family day.

With a hey nonny nay and a hey nonny noo

From a mad jester through to a fire-eater, no corner was cut in this fantastic community outreach. This year's theme was a medieval special, with attractions like the fire-eater, court jester and of course Run the Gauntlet. The rain didn't stop a couple of hundred people enjoying the day. Ye Olde hook-a-duck, archery and pig-roast (hot dog to you and me) went down a treat. With Pastor Tony playing the role of king for the day and hordes of the youth as knights of the round table, you can just imagine some of the looks from people passing by. Our jester, Andy Duffield, had to face the fact that his shoes were curling more and more as the rain continued to fall, yet still was able to put on a smile.

You may have guessed that the big kids of the group, ie Tom, Scott and Dan,  then found that you could get down the 20ft slide an awful lot quicker in the rain, so the Tameside speed-time trials began. With each more daring than the last,  the lads blindly threw themselves from the top of the slide,  not to be outdone by anyone who came before them. Jackass eat your heart out.

Time was called and with limbs still in tact the lads retreated to their homes in a very soggy state, with the cry of "where have you been?"  ringing in their ears from disgruntled mothers.

Thanks again to everybody who made this great day possible.
