The Essence of the Spirit of Truth

Anger, frustration, bitterness, unforgiveness, not to mention habits and bad language, are all potential doorways for familiar spirits to pass through, blocking the entrance point for God to move through us. All the way through the Old Testament we see a pattern of how God’s spirit lifted off His servants due to them polluting their hearts. David, Israel’s greatest king, witnessed this as he allowed the spirit of lust to enter into his heart, for as it did it then created an action which ultimately resulted in sin. As soon as David’s heart opened to various other types of spirit activity, the Holy Spirit quickly began withdrawing himself, so much so that David is later seen crying out to God, pleading with Him for the Holy Spirit not to be taken away from him Psalm 51:10-11.
Eli, the high priest, a priest who once had an ear to heaven giving Israel both spiritual direction and cleansing, witnessed God’s hand lifting off him, due to him allowing his sons to commit all manner of sins in the house of the Lord. 1 Samuel 2:12-26 & 1 Samuel 2:27-35. Saul, Israel’s beleaguered king, was a man who once walked with favour upon him, but due to disobedience witnessed the kingdom of God being taken from him and as a consequence the spirit of God lifted off him so much so, that Saul was no longer recognised as being an anointed king. 1 Samuel 15:27-30. Understanding this, we know that we who are God’s, are marked in Him with the sealed promised Holy Spirit, Ephesians 4:30 & 2 Timothy 2:19 guaranteeing our inheritance to come. 2 Corinthians 1:22. We who know and have accepted this seal, must learn how to walk both by the spirit, as well as learn how to work in the spirit of truth, as this is the nature now operating within us.
2 Corinthians 6:14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?
Don’t be everyone’s boy but nobody’s son
1. There is no bonding.
2. There is no partnership.
3. There is no fellowship.
4. There is no harmony.
5. There is no common ground.
6. There is no agreement.
7. There are no results.
8. There is no God and father.
9. There is no son-ship and identity.
10. There is no habitation.
The spirit of God comes to bring separation from everything that would so easy entangle and hinder us.
John 16:8-11 When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me; in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.
When the Holy Spirit comes, he is only going to do a few things such as convict you of your sin and your unrighteousness. God wants to use and fill us with His spirit of truth, so as to destroy the works of the evil one on the earth and by doing this, the kingdom of God begins advancing within us and around us.
John 16:13-16 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you. “In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me.”
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth. If you have the spirit of God in your life, then you have the eternal truth operating within you. This nature must quickly begin taking a hold of you if you are to witness a character and nature change. To test if this nature is alive within those you call friends and fellow believers, listen to the nature of people’s conversations and how they perceive life, God and the world, when in their midst. Those who polarise around the things of the spirit possess key language, grace and truth, as opposed to those who fill themselves with the things of this world, as these people refer to as empty vessels and lovers of the world. Jesus was full of the Holy Spirit and did not stagger, but only in the church do we see people stagger over the things of God.
Dynamics of the spirit of truth
He guides us into all truth, not just in facts. If I have a toothache that is a fact, but by His stripes I am healed, one is a truth the other is a fact. There are many facts but only one truth. When it came to feeding the five thousand, there was no bread which was a fact, but because God is willing, the truth separates us from the factual circumstances. Whose report will you believe? The doctor says you are sick, but His report says I am free. Facts can limit and contain the truth, if allowed, for truth delivers, empowers and sets us free, free to go beyond the natural facts and earthly limitations and why - because Christ is living in us. The Holy Spirit helps us to lift our eyes upon the deliverer and away from the undertaker, taking us to life so that the life within us can be lived more abundantly.
Whatever He hears, He will speak, giving us present truth. Whatever God is speaking he will reveal it to us, so the word is never stale. Man does not live by bread alone but by the proceeding word of God. Every time the word proceeds from the throne, He will communicate it to you. Don’t just read the bible without hearing, speak for even the disciples said when walking on the Emmaus road “did not our hearts burn as he spoke to us.”
He will give us progressive truth by leading us deeper and deeper into truth. If He is teaching you about leadership or prayer, He will lead you deeper and deeper, so that you can know the full council of that truth and so that you can be established in this current truth. When Ezekiel was asked to prophesy to a valley of dry bones, he did so because the ingredients were already operational on the inside of his life. When, in the book of Genesis, God spoke when darkness covered the surface of the earth, He could do this because the ingredient of light was operational on the inside of God. In you, said God to Abram, meaning not through you, but in you, identifying talking about what is inside of me, all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, for what is inside you lies ability. God wasn’t just interested in bringing forth Isaac as a first born begotten son, but was more interested in bringing forth an entire nation in which the earth could be blessed. You have all the ingredients you need for making something happen in the earth. We carry something that will stir, generate and explode in the earth if understood. If God doesn’t speak by the spirit of truth to us directly, then we will have no idea or no way of knowing the condition of our own heart.
Exodus 6:1-3 God must speak further and further to us. God says that when I walked and moved through Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, they only knew a certain aspect of my identity, as I revealed myself to them more and more, I was literally revealing myself to them as ‘I AM’. This new level was never revealed to them by natural understanding, it was progressive and intensive transition. You mustn’t allow yourself to be labelled by saying I am a Baptist or Pentecostal, for this shows people where you stopped moving, as this was a 100 year old revelation. People say I am a Charismatic, which means you stopped 50 years ago, as all this is part of the old truth, but we now need more progressive truth to live by.
He will disclose to us that which is yet to come. This level is called prophetic truth, a truth that is about to take place in the near future. God will reveal to us the next level of truth, we need to fulfil his plan and his will for us, so we can make the necessary changes, changes that will keep us ahead of our adversary, changes that will always ensure we enter into what God is doing.
He will reveal Jesus to us as He is, for this is called revelation of the truth. This is what He is and what He will be. Revelation 1:1 This revelation given to him was to help John see who Jesus really is. This revelation helps us see what Jesus is doing and is about to do, for John is literally borrowing the eyes of Jesus in order for him to see what is being spoken out. Revelation 1:4 -6 All that John says is, that which he has seen and heard, for everything he speaks is about the One who he knows and who he knows him to be, whilst in his midst. If you don’t see this, all you talk about when reading Revelation is the 666 antichrist. Everything we see in this book must be seen through the eyes of Jesus. Every time John speaks he mentions the One who is describing him as the lampstand and as the One who walks through the church. In every church, John describes Jesus as the One who he is wanting to appear, meaning to one church he is the one holding the seven stars in his hand and one who walks amongst the seven lampstands, Rev 2:1, whereas to another he appears as one who holds a sharp double-edged sword, ready to pierce and sever. Rev 2:12. Each time John describes and speaks of Him, he portrays Him in His correct light and so must we when speaking by the spirit of truth. Jesus says concerning John, you only walked with me for three and half years, this was but one dimension of light that I revealed to you, but now you are seeing me through my eyes which is multiple dimension. Jesus is saying you know me as the one who laid your head upon my breast, but you have never seen this type of Jesus, for not even the mount of transfiguration revealed this to you. John, you knew me in the one who was, but now you are seeing me in the light of the one who is to come.
He will reveal every other spirit to you. He will reveal what is the spirit of man and what is a demonic spirit and what is the Holy Spirit. You must get to know the Holy Spirit, so as you can discern the human spirit and all other spirits. The word goes out from the heavens which is one dimension, the prophet speaks it on the earth which is two dimension and it is then established on the earth, which is then instrumental for bringing people out of captivity, bringing them into restoration which is a third dimension, all of which is revealed and established by the spirit of truth.
More emphasis on the spirit and the word
The word must not come into conflict with our personal cultural emphasis. Malaysian, Iranian or English, are all cultural expressions with traditional patterns. If we function by religious cultural traditions, preferring them over kingdom revealed revelation, then scripture is in danger of being interpreted through cultural eyes. Interpretation of scripture must be revealed in the light and context of scripture, not culture.
The word must not be in conflict with personal preferences. Personal preferences can be built upon prejudices. You don’t like people with certain types of personalities, especially if they don’t fit your profile, for if they don’t we tend to put them in a box.
The word must not come into conflict with popular thought patterns. Peter, thinking the gospel was only exclusive to the Jews, was a popular thought pattern, a pattern he later came to see was inaccurate, as he later receives his revelation whilst sitting on the roof of a house. If Peter had not been invaded with a higher truth, the ramifications to the expansion and advancement of the church and kingdom of God could have seriously been contained. The popular thought patterns of faith teach faith is to be used in order to gain material blessing. The popular thought pattern can be lopsided and unbalanced. Peter’s walking on water is a classic example. Peter’s experience was not about wonder-walking faith, as the common thought suggests, for the central meaning was never for him to get out of his corporate assignment for a personal experience, which is nothing more than personal pleasures. Jesus took Peter out of the water and put him in the boat, for he didn’t drown but sank, as sinking gives you time to think so that when you get back into the boat you become baptised in sinking water, which should then lead you to repentance for your disobedience. You can imagine the disciples saying to Peter as he was climbing in the boat, soaked, looking like a drowned rat, wonder-walking faith “Hey, you should have stayed in the boat with us, we all knew you would sink, you Muppet.”
The word must not come into compromising standards or acceptable standards. The Pharisees asked, ‘Why did Moses give a certificate of divorce? Was this the acceptable norm or standard? The acceptable way or doing church is to sing one song, prayer, an offering and then head for a crescendo message. The scripture should be higher. If we want our service to be of prayer, then prayer it is, for we might even miss worship out, but if we feel the need to miss it out then we do it.
The word of God must not come into contact with false doctrines, doctrines that permit alternative lifestyle. Though love is a central theme of scripture, it also has a clear, clean, unpolluted context. If we remove the context to allow an alternative lifestyle to emerge, we create all types of nonsense and fornications of the soul to arise. God clearly created Adam and Eve, not Adam to live with Steve, irrespective of how you interpret love, for context must never be removed to allow an alternative lifestyle to come forth.
The word of God must not come into contact with religious tradition. All manmade traditions must not be allowed to cloud the truth in order for people to feel closer to God. The more I do these things the better I feel, these things are religious traditions. People who plead the blood often do so as some kind of religious tradition or even superstition, thinking that if they plead the blood on everything, they will be protected in every area of their life which isn’t true. One only has to read Paul’s life account, the same Paul who gave us clear precise blue print patterns and how through him being a blood washed sanctified believer suffered intensely for the gospel sake.
The word must never become interpreted in the light of inaccurate immature preachers. Because they are partly wrong they can bring you into total error. Take the scripture of give and it will be given unto you, which is nothing about giving but is more to do with un-forgiveness, rather than money, is used time and time again to bring the greed out of people by them giving. We need just as much teaching on forgiving, rather than just teaching about giving. It is because of the greed found in people’s hearts, minds, that inaccurate half truths often lead to people being handed over to their own self delusions.
